Status Updates:

What's Next:

The Wizard's Next Thing
I've been writing steadily for the last couple of weeks. Don't get too excited. I'm still not up to my old 10k a day but every day is a bit better than the last. Fingers crossed.

Future Ishmael

What I'm Reading:

So much reading. Unfortunately, almost all of it falls into the "Next In A Series" category. Many of which I've talked about before, either here or on the website. Currently I'm hip deep in Wandering Inn 18, but I read off the end of the Towerbound series, caught up with Heretical Fishing, Homestead Crafter, Tunnel Rat, and Hidden Class: Handyman.

One series I haven't mentioned yet? John Walker's Old Man's Comeback and that's a serious oversight.

Being an old man myself, I can relate to this acerbic take on human-alien collaboration. Flip Kennedy frees a captured alien (because why not?), helps her steal her ship back from evil humans, and sets out on the adventure.

I'm only through book 3 (I got sidetracked) but I've enjoyed Walker's world building, careful character building, and sense of humor

But, as always, why not snag a sample and see for yourself.

Looking Ahead:

Yes! Looking back over the last month, things are going much better. I'm getting a handle on sleep, work, walking, and reading.

I've often said "If I'm not writing, it's because I'm not reading enough."

That axiom smacked me in the face last month when I realized I was down to about 10 hours a week from my normal 20-25. I've made it a point to step away from the keyboard (and Satisfactory) to dig into some of the new volumes in series I've enjoyed in the past.

I've also picked up a bunch of new-to-me authors that I hope to get to in the next month.

Net result: Regular writing sessions, exhumed my word sprint spreadsheet, and some set times for playing with Roger and company. I have only a rudimentary idea of where this story might be going. About the same level as I used to have with Ishmael.

I think - I hope - that's a good thing.

Time will tell.
