Status Updates:The last month has seen some interesting developments that aren't ready for public consumption What's Next:The Wizard's Next Thing The Wizard's Cat Everything Else What I'm Reading: Dave Dobson's Kenai rose to the top of my list this month. I've been actively looking for more self-published SF to share with you and this one filled the bill nicely A kind of time-travel, sort of, story. It involves a damaged soldier, a very old tree, and a planet where days don't necessarily behave. Well written. Totally engrossing. Just enough revealed, just in time. Very satisfying. But, as always, don't take my word for it. Maybe grab a sample and see for yourself. Looking Ahead: A quiet month of hot weather. We had a short respite over the weekend but the day's already heating up. The story is coming together, too. Albeit, slower. I know it's frustrating to hear (because it's frustrating to admit) but I'm forcing myself to trust the process. The one where nothing seems to happen for weeks on end and then suddenly a story happens. All of my best work has followed that timeline. It's a process that I tried to subvert by forcing the story with daily word counts. It didn't work out as well as I'd hoped. It feels like it slowed things down by putting words on the page just because I needed the words. And I had to redo them. I've got an opening. I've got an ending. My immediate task is bridging the gap in a way that satisfies Roger. It'll come. I truly believe that. So until next month, safe voyage. -NL Remember Beta Readers: Every so often, I put out a call for beta readers. These are people who are willing to read the work in progress in a short period of time with only the briefest of notices. I'm going to be fine tuning this process going forward but if you'd like to be considered for future works, then click this link. And thanks. Fine Tuning: Would you prefer to get ONLY new release notices? YES, PLEASE Note: Newsletter people will get New Release notices, too, but |

Status Updates: A month of disruptions and alarms broke the flow but the ideas keep tumbling by the dryer window of my mind. What's Next: The Wizard's Next ThingYeah. That lovely momentum? It died when I got embroiled in a civil code violation with the city over my landscaping. My momentum met a thicket of mugho pine. To be fair, they were right to call me on it. Future IshmaelThere will be. Some day. Probably sooner than I thought. Future Tanyth FairportSame with Tanyth. What I'm Reading:...
Status Updates: In the words of Paul McCartney, "I have to admit it's getting better." What's Next: The Wizard's Next ThingI've been writing steadily for the last couple of weeks. Don't get too excited. I'm still not up to my old 10k a day but every day is a bit better than the last. Fingers crossed. Future IshmaelThere will be. Some day. Future Tanyth FairportSame with Tanyth. What I'm Reading: So much reading. Unfortunately, almost all of it falls into the "Next In A Series" category. Many...

Future IshmaelWill Ishmael pull me out of Shackleford House? Will I finally look at doing something else with the Toe-Holds? Will I throw caution to the wind? No. Actually, I'm living at Shackleford House for the foreseeable future. Future Tanyth FairportSame with Tanyth. What I'm Reading: I've been...
