Status Updates:I started out with such good intentions and wound up with all these paving bricks. What's Next:The Wizard's Cat The SC Marva Collins (no change): Future Ishmael Tanyth Fairport What I'm Reading: I've been through a couple of different series in the last month. I keep looking for some good SF but keep picking up fantasy (or litRPG) because selfpublished SF has been thin on my ground lately. Sarah Painter's series Crow Investigations popped up on Mastodon a few weeks ago and I put the sample in my queue. Its number came up a few days ago. I'm into book 5 already. Just sayin'. Lydia Crow's struggles to survive as a private investigator without losing her faith in humanity. When she returns to her London home to escape an angry client, she finds herself embroiled in Family Drama. Much as she fights it, she gets drawn in deeper and deeper. I'm finding a lot to like about the characters, the writing, and - most importantly - how Painter takes me into the supernatural world of Camberwell, London. The internecine struggles among the four main factions provides a rich background for Lydia's struggles to find - or make - her own place in the world. As always, don't take my word for it. Maybe grab a sample and see for yourself. Looking Ahead: I haven't given up. It feels like it some days. How easy it would be to say "I'm retired" and walk away. Except I'm not done yet. There are still stories to tell, even if I don't exactly have a handle on any of them yet. Recovery, it seems, is still ongoing. I'm still writing something every single day. I'm still rolling Roger Mulligan's life around in my fingers and in my mind. I read a lot and - yes - I play a lot. But I haven't given up. I hope you haven't either. Safe voyage. -NL Remember Beta Readers: Every so often, I put out a call for beta readers. These are people who are willing to read the work in progress in a short period of time with only the briefest of notices. I'm going to be fine tuning this process going forward but if you'd like to be considered for future works, then click this link. And thanks. Fine Tuning: Would you prefer to get ONLY new release notices? YES, PLEASE Note: Newsletter people will get New Release notices, too, but |

Status Updates: Year end/beginning finally behind me as I'm working on developing good practice for 2025. What's Next: The Wizard's CatIt's like watching ice melt but the story is slowly, slowly coming together. My new writing practice sees a little bit more of it revealed in each session. Some day I might get back to my mega-word count days. Operative phrase: some day. Future IshmaelI think more and more about what that might look like with Ishmael and Zoya striking out on their own, Pip and...
Status Updates: I'm back to writing every day. Getting back to basics. What's Next: The Wizard's CatI'm finally seeing some significant progress in getting this thing moving along. I'd hoped to have it drafted, at least, by year's end. I suspect you all did, too. Unfortunately, I've disappointed all of us. Future IshmaelNo change here. It's been tempting to shelf The Cat and go back to the Deep Dark. Unlike the situation with Cape Grace - which I put away several times over a number of years...
Status Updates: The reading is still paying off in terms of inspiring me to get back into the trenches and write. What's Next: The Wizard's CatI'm still making good progress. I know more about where the story is going. The biggest obstacle right now is getting into the groove. Future IshmaelNo change here. The Cat has priority over everything. Yes. Someday. I don't know where or when. Other stories in the Western Annex are percolating, too. Tanyth FairportI really want to get back to her and...
