Status Updates:I started out with such good intentions and wound up with all these paving bricks. What's Next:The Wizard's Cat The SC Marva Collins (no change): Future Ishmael Tanyth Fairport What I'm Reading: I've been through a couple of different series in the last month. I keep looking for some good SF but keep picking up fantasy (or litRPG) because selfpublished SF has been thin on my ground lately. Sarah Painter's series Crow Investigations popped up on Mastodon a few weeks ago and I put the sample in my queue. Its number came up a few days ago. I'm into book 5 already. Just sayin'. Lydia Crow's struggles to survive as a private investigator without losing her faith in humanity. When she returns to her London home to escape an angry client, she finds herself embroiled in Family Drama. Much as she fights it, she gets drawn in deeper and deeper. I'm finding a lot to like about the characters, the writing, and - most importantly - how Painter takes me into the supernatural world of Camberwell, London. The internecine struggles among the four main factions provides a rich background for Lydia's struggles to find - or make - her own place in the world. As always, don't take my word for it. Maybe grab a sample and see for yourself. Looking Ahead: I haven't given up. It feels like it some days. How easy it would be to say "I'm retired" and walk away. Except I'm not done yet. There are still stories to tell, even if I don't exactly have a handle on any of them yet. Recovery, it seems, is still ongoing. I'm still writing something every single day. I'm still rolling Roger Mulligan's life around in my fingers and in my mind. I read a lot and - yes - I play a lot. But I haven't given up. I hope you haven't either. Safe voyage. -NL Remember Beta Readers: Every so often, I put out a call for beta readers. Status Updates: The ground hog saw his shadow here and predicted six more weeks of writing before summer. What's Next: The Wizard's CatYes! Slow but steady will win this race. I'm back to writing almost every day and can see the story taking shape. It's still going to be a long slog as I rebuild my writing muscles but it's like any practice. Sloppy and misshapen but I begin to see real progress now. Future IshmaelStill planning on it eventually but no idea what, where, who, or how. Tanyth...
