Course Corrections - June 2025

Status Updates:

Yikes! I'm late. In spite of all the notes, calendar reminders, and phone alarms, I didn't get this out on time. At least it's the right day.

What's Next:

The Wizard's Cat
Progress happens slowly each day. Some days only a few words but still progress.

Future Ishmael
I have a fuzzy vision of Ishmael and Zoya, of Pip and Natalya. Maybe a few stanyers down the road.

Tanyth Fairport
Unchanged. Still on the back burner.

What I'm Reading:

Unfortunately I don't have much new to talk about. I've still be finishing off the latest volumes in series I've already started. Gold Ranked Brewer, Blade's Rest, and a long string of Michael Chatfield Free Fleet books. I had to dig back through my history to find something that wasn't just more of the same series catch-up madness and found Nascent Witch by Melissa Bobe.

I'm not a fan of stand-alones. Just about the time the story gets really going, they end and I'm still left with "Oh, cool! Then what happens" and the answer is nothing. It's the same problem I have with short stories. Just on a larger scale.

Nascent Witch is no exception. I really want a book 2 but this fantasy/romance/mystery hit all the right notes for me. Just enough of all the little pieces all placed together in just the right order. Well crafted. Very entertaining.

But, as always, don't take my word for it. Maybe grab a sample and see for yourself.

Looking Ahead:

I'm still struggling but I'm still convinced I'm coming to a better place. The story hasn't grabbed me by the ear and dragged me back to the keyboard. Yet. I fully expect that it will at some point.

If only to give me something else to tell you about here.

In the meantime, I'll keep chipping away, still healing slowly, and looking forward toward better days.

Until then, safe voyage.

Remember
I update the blog every month on the first so if you're wondering what's happening, you can check there to get an interim report until the next one shows up in your inbox.

Beta Readers:

Every so often, I put out a call for beta readers. These are people who are willing to read the work in progress in a short period of time with only the briefest of notices.

I'm going to be fine tuning this process going forward but if you'd like to be considered for future works, then click this link.

It puts a tag on your address in the email list. You don't have to check anything. The ConvertKit people (who store the addresses) will handle it and then take you to a page to tell you that your preferences have been set. By clicking that link you're done.

And thanks.

Fine Tuning:

Would you prefer to get ONLY new release notices?YES, PLEASE

Note: Newsletter people will get New Release notices, too, but
I've had several people say they preferred to only hear from me when I
release a new book so I'm trying to accommodate them.
