Status Updates:

The Cat is back!

What's Next:

The Wizard's Cat
I finished the draft. I've checked with my editor and she has a slot open. Maybe Christmas comes early this year.

Future Ishmael
No change here. Still hopeful that I'll see them again. I suspect they'll be cruising in the dark without me for a while longer.

Tanyth Fairport
Nothing happening here in the near future.

What I'm Reading:

I've spent the last few days reading The Forgotten Fleet Trilogy by Craig Andrews. Pretty decent space opera/military SF and the whole thing is available in a single file.

The story revolves around a young pilot trying to get his anger under control and deal with tragically losing his father. Lots of space battles. Lots of ups and downs. Will they win this battle? Will they win the war against the bug-like Baranyk? Who will survive?

It's a simple story told well. I've been enjoying it.

But you should grab a sample to see if it's something you'd like to spend a few days with.

Looking Ahead:

My progress continued through the month and I finished the first pass draft earlier this month. I've been fine tuning and smoothing out some of the rougher patches but I think I have a story.

Finally.

Karen's waiting for me to get the manuscript ready for her deft touches. I'll be pulling a few beta readers from the pool soon so watch your inboxes.

I've spent the month paying attention to my basics. Working on my routine and living in Kairos time, focusing on the moment instead of the time.

Clearly, it paid off.

Thanks to all of you for being as patient as you could be while I was busy being impatient with myself. Here's hoping all that patience continues to pay off.

Until next month, safe voyage.d

Remember
I update the blog every month on the first so if you're wondering what's happening, you can check there to get an interim report until the next one shows up in your inbox.

Beta Readers:

Every so often, I put out a call for beta readers. These are people who are willing to read the work in progress in a short period of time with only the briefest of notices.

I'm going to be fine tuning this process going forward but if you'd like to be considered for future works, then click this link.

It puts a tag on your address in the email list. You don't have to check anything. The ConvertKit people (who store the addresses) will handle it and then take you to a page to tell you that your preferences have been set. By clicking that link you're done.

And thanks.

Fine Tuning:

Would you prefer to get ONLY new release notices?YES, PLEASE

Note: Newsletter people will get New Release notices, too, but
I've had several people say they preferred to only hear from me when I
release a new book so I'm trying to accommodate them.

Status Updates: A quiet month while we wait out the clock. What's Next: The Wizard's CatMy editor has the draft and she's working her magic on it. I'm looking for the cover art around the first of the month. This is going to happen. Future IshmaelStill no change here. I can only focus on one thing at a time. Status Updates: What's Next: The Wizard's CatSomething shifted. It started last month but really kicked in when the calendar flipped over. I've made significant progress on a first draft, seem to have found some kind of story line, and have been getting solid time at the keyboard every day since August 4th. Fingers crossed it continues. Future IshmaelNo change here. Still hopeful that I'll see them again. Perhaps moreso now that I feel like writing isn't some arcane art that I knew once and...

Status Updates: What's Next: The Wizard's CatI'm breathing again. The writing is happening and I'm slowly getting the mo-go workin'. I hope. Future IshmaelStill hopeful that I'll see them again. Perhaps moreso now that I feel like writing isn't some arcane art that I knew once and forgot. Tanyth FairportNothing new. Still on the back burner. What I'm Reading: I read a lot of stuff in the last month but, for a change, some of it was space opera that I feel good about recommending. Miles...
